Ilda Simonian: Heritage CD

For this project, Ilda Simonian has arranged twelve traditional Armenian songs composed by Soghomon Soghomonyan (1869-1936), also known as Komitas Vartabed, for a string quartet and recorded with the duduk (an ancient Armenian double reed woodwind instrument made of apricot wood) and voice. The album features joyful yet melancholic songs of homesickness. The arrangements and guidance of the album were made by musician Grig Kuzikyan and recording/mixing/mastering by Tigran Kuzikyan. The Heritage album was recorded in the studios of Public Radio of Armenia in Yerevan, Armenia.
