Tirilil celebrates Danish hymns on its 10th anniversary

The ensemble Tirilil celebrates its 10th anniversary with the release of a new album. The album, which bears the group's name Tirilil, is a tribute to the Danish hymn treasure. Tirilil consists of 12 well-known Danish hymns, which the ensemble members have arranged themselves.

Tirilil was formed in January 2015 and consists of Katrine Broch, Nadja Schmedes Enevoldsen. Susanne Cecilie Nielsen and Louise Boll.; three singers and an organist, all educated at the Jutland Academy of Music in Aarhus. The group has performed in churches around the country for several years and has had Danish hymns as a regular part of their repertoire.

The album presents innovative interpretations of Danish hymns, where Tirilil unites the complexity of baroque music, the simplicity of Nordic folk tunes and the depth of church music. Each hymn has been adapted with both respect for the original work and a desire to add a personal and fresh expression. Through the arrangements, the beauty of the melodies and the meaning of the lyrics are highlighted in a way that both honors tradition and creates new musical perspectives.
